| Depart from the hotel to the pier and take the long-tail boat up to the Mae Kok river to the Karen village (50 minutes). Then ride the elephant for 30 minutes around the village. Return by a long-tail boat back to Chiang Rai. Lunch at the restaurant beside the river. Continue the trip to the highest peak on the Thai-Myanmar border. Doi Tung, provides an opportunity to view enroute many different Lahu and Akha village as well as terraced farming areas, and sees from distance the Princess Mother's frigid flower garden. Doi Tung Temple, built in A.D.1493, is located at the peak. Its scenery reminds one of Switzerland, features many unique images and temple architecture overlooking the entire northern rice field plain. Return to the hotel. |
